Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park

The zoo in Syracuse, NY has a quite a few inside exhibits, including a very nice free-flight aviary. So on those miserable weather days when I nevertheless have to drive to Syracuse, I can stay warm and dry and take a few photos.

Hoffman's Sloth

The Sloths were really moving around, (of course because they knew that I was trying to take a photo) only this one was living up to its name.

Vervet

The Vervet exhibit is inside and while well lit, it is usually inadequate for a sharp photo. This cooperative monkey was perched under a light and stayed quite still.

LBJ

Penguins

The day I visited the Syracuse Zoo, there was hardly anyone around. I got to stay in place at the Penguin exhibit and got quite a few photos at this interesting angle. Check out the reflection from the glass in the background.

Lion

I like to call this "the Last Thing You See".

My mother calls these (and other) birds LBJ's (little brown jobs). These sparrows were foraging inside the barn. As they were not caged and were able to escape me at any time, I used a flash to capture this image. He did not seem to mind.
